Selected Projects / Pacific Autism Family Network: Autism Spectrum Disorder Research in BC 2015/16

The Pacific Autism Family Network Foundation and The Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research have a vision to create a place where autism researchers and clinicians can come together and share findings with families. During the 2015/16 school year they engaged the Health Design Lab (HDL) for a two-phase project. For the first phase, the HDL led a series of community based co-creation workshops with families of autistic children as well as adults with autism in both the local Greater Vancouver area as well as smaller communities within BC. For the second phase the HDL considered the results of the first phase and created an overall conceptual model that may aid in understanding the relationship between family needs and research, creating a family-centred framework for research in autism.
