Summer Employment Opportunity

Two Rivers Gallery is hiring 4 positions into the programming department for full-time summer employment. The positions provide unique opportunities for Canadian citizens aged 16-30 to gain skill-building work experiences in a public art gallery designing and facilitating educational art programs and events for school aged children.  The successful candidates will: be creative, innovative and adaptable, have experience working with school-aged children, have a love of art and/or making, work well in a team, and show initiative, interest and effort.
The 4 positions are:

Creativity Camp Coordinator (1 position):

The main task of the Creativity Camp Coordinator will be designing, managing and facilitating full day Creativity Camps for children, ages 6-13. Reporting to the Director of Public Programs, this student will organize every aspect of these themed camps; offering families full day childcare with an emphasis on encouraging creativity through exploration into art, making, experimentation and self-expression.

BMO KidzArt Dayz Coordinator (1 position):

The main tasks of the BMO KidzArt Dayz Coordinator will be managing the 30th annual BMO KidzArt Dayz, a free 2 day celebration of creativity through art, music and movement at the beginning of July, an event which attracts over 10,000 people. Reporting to the Director of Public Programs, this student will organize every aspect of the event; designing the activities, assisting with promotions, recruiting and training volunteers, etc.  During the second half of the work placement, this student will also take on the responsibilities of children’s programming, working with our Regional Programming Coordinators and Creativity Camp Coordinator facilitating the Summer Art Club for children ages 5-10 and the full day Creativity Camps for 6-12 year olds.

Regional Programming Coordinator (2 positions):

The main tasks of the Regional Programming Coordinators will include facilitating Imagination on the Move, an educational outreach program, and facilitating full day Creativity Camps and morning Summer Art Clubs. Reporting to the Director of Public Programs, these students will travel to rural communities in the Fraser-Fort George Regional District, leading elementary school students and teachers in art lessons and projects.  During the second half of the placement, these students will also take on the responsibilities of children’s programming, working with our BMO KidzArt Dayz Coordinator and Creativity Camp Coordinator facilitating the Summer Art Club for children ages 5-10 and the full day Creativity Camps for 6-12 year olds.

Dates of Employment: May 01 – August 30, 2019
Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm, 7.5 hours / day, 37.5 hours / week
Some evening and / or weekend work may be required.
Rate of pay: $15 / hour
