HOW TO BUILD A VIRTUAL WORLD: A SIX PART TALK & WORKSHOP SERIES ON VIRTUAL REALITY

Series to assist Vancouver-area businesses and individuals in the creation of virtual reality experiences, environments.

PART 1: The Business of VR begins this month: Is VR a bubble? We’ll ask key content producers, investors, and luminaries to give us the broad perspective.

VanVR Meetup, VanCG Meetup in conjunction with The Co Lab at Emily Carr University of Art + Design announce the launch of How To Build A Virtual World, a series of six monthly presentations beginning with the headline event ‘Business of VR’ on, October 22nd 2015 at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, which will focus on the global emergence of Virtual Reality. With over 700 individuals and companies now participating in the Vancouver area local meetups, this series builds on the creative and technical momentum enjoyed by industry and academia. The series will provide deep insight in how to be engaged in the creation of VR content, and also give attendees hands-on experience through break out workshops. Future topics also include:

  1. The Business of VR (Oct. 2015);
  2. Creating 3D Assets (Nov. 2015);
  3. Materials, Lights and Shadows (Dec. 2015);
  4. Animation, Rigging and Motion Capture (Jan. 2016);
  5. Interaction Design (Feb. 2016), and;
  6. The Experience of VR (March 2016).

The series is welcoming local businesses and individuals with an interest in VR to participate, accommodating those that are new to the topic through to those who are experienced in VR, game development, VFX and content acquisition. Each of the presentation series is to be recorded in an immersive Holo-3D format and distributed via various VR channels, allowing an international audience to experience the series from their home or workplace.
