Two Emily Carr faculty have been awarded Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) grants in the latest round of applications. This is a success rate of 40% higher than most Universities.<\/p>\n
Associate Professor\u00a0Paul Mathieu<\/a>\u00a0was awarded $136,400 for a three-year Partnership grant with the Australian National University in Canberra, the Nanjing Art Institute, and industrial partner Huaguang Zibo Factory in China. The project, \u201cChina-Australia-Canada Ceramics and the Archive Research, Industrial Partnership\u201d, unites creative, scholarly, and technical expertise to combine two forms of archives \u2013 ceramics and digital technologies \u2013 to develop new models of historical preservation of otherwise fleeting events and experiences.<\/p>\n Professor\u00a0Ruth Beer<\/a>, Principal Investigator, along with co-applicants\u00a0Glen Lowry<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Kit Grauer\u00a0of UBC, was awarded $310,803 for a four-year Insight grant.\u00a0 The project, \u201cTrading Routes: Grease Trails, Oil Pipelines\u201d, is a Research\/Creation project focused on the intersecting geographies of aboriginal trade routes, the Coast Salish \u201cgrease trails,\u201d and the proposed Alberta-British Columbia oil pipeline.
