Creating Impact through Community-Based Co-Design Projects within Curriculum

“Is it possible for community-based projects embedded in curricula to mutually benefit society and student learning?”

Caylee Raber and Lisa Boulton speak about the importance of having students engage in participatory design and community design.

To demonstrate the positive effect that real-life context learning has on students’ school experience, 3 existing community-based co-design courses at Emily Carr will be evaluated. The intention is to produce a “final report that will summarize the findings and suggest strategies for continued development of such projects, which can be shared openly at Emily Carr and with other institutions”.
