Selected Projects / United Way: Avenues of Change — Squamish

Spearheaded by United Way, Avenues of Change is an Early Childhood place-based, multi-year funding initiative with a goal to improve early childhood development. The Health Design Lab collaborated with the Social Planning and Research Council of BC (SPARC BC) to develop action strategies to improve early childhood development in Squamish. HDL was responsible for leading a series of community engagement workshops in order to gain an understanding of the Squamish community including the key people, places, and assets within the neighbourhood, and the major challenges and gaps that may be impacting childhood development. This included engagement with Squamish Nation and the development of culturally relevant co-design strategies.
