Manager, Health Design Lab
Nadia Beyzaei is the Manager of the Health Design Lab and is responsible for the development, growth and leadership of the lab, from August 2022 – September 2023, while the Director of the Health Design Lab is on Maternity leave. Nadia is a designer and researcher working in the spaces of health and community engagement, as well as Sessional Faculty in the Faculty of Design + Dynamic Media. Prior to her role as Manager, Nadia was the Coordinator of the Health Design Lab for 5 years and engaged as a communication designer and design researcher on Indigenous health, aging, and complex care projects, while supporting the dissemination of research both locally and internationally.
During her 8 years at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, Nadia worked on a range of behavioural health research projects, including UX/UI projects which aim to improve access to care, and service design projects across clinics at BC Children’s Hospital.Nadia holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Research in Healthcare + Design degree from the Royal College of Art, with her thesis work focusing on how design can enhance engagement in evidence-based medicine. Her multidisciplinary background in science, design and health research equally inform her participatory design-focused research practice, approach to social innovation projects, and interest in making complex topics accessible and approachable through visual and strategic design.
