The S3D Centre’s Maria Lantin and Denise Quesnel will join leaders from the international 3D industry during a 3 day series of seminars and workshops. The Toronto International Stereoscopic 3D Conferenceruns Sep 20-23 and is an acclaimed unique international gathering of creative, scientific and business minds discussing, discovering and inspiring innovation in “Stereoscopic 3D” Cinema. Brought together by the 3D Film Innovation Consortium (3D FLIC), the Conference offers the highest quality discussions on the creative, scientific and business challenges and possibilities of Stereoscopic 3D.

Maria Lantin and Denise Quesnel will present on the experience and results of filming High Frame Rate 3D, notably short subjects with a variable film rate. This presentation draws on findings and best practices from the HFR experimentation that is ongoing at the S3D Centre. They are joined on the panel by Martin S. Banks, Vision Scientist of UC Berkeley, and Andrew B. Watson the Senior Scientist for Vision Research at NASA Ames Research Center.

This year, the Conference also is hosting a 3D Shorts Program curated by 3D cinema scholar Sanja Obradovic. The 3D Shorts Programme consists of six Canadian and international short stereoscopic films, animations and videos produced in the last two years. Of these films, we have our friend and Canada Chapter of the International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society James Stewart’s “Beatrice Coron’s Daily Battles”, S3D Masterclass presenter Josephine Derobe’s “Souviens-Moi”, and meetup presenter Philippe Baylaucq’s “ORA”.
