Be the first in Canada to see the groundbreaking research happening in our own backyard. Featuring researchers from Canada and demonstrations of the latest in software + plugins for S3D, don’t miss this showcase. As with all meetups, this is also free for everyone. - 7pm: Maria Lantin will give a brief overview of the GRAND Network Centre of Excellence and the MOVITA project in particular. Projects from the partner Universities (ECUAD, SFU, UBC, Concordia, Ottawa, York, NSCAD) will be outlined. Alan Goldman will then discuss the current industry relationships in the works with EMily Carr and how the University is engaging with industry.
- 7:15pm: Denise Quesnel will present on Variable high frame rate (VFR) research and tools for narrative S3D productions, with some of the world’s first variable frame rate S3D content created by researchers at the S3D Centre as video examples. Find out how immersive storytelling has explored new depths with the creative tool of variable frame rates.
- 7:45pm: A presentation from the University of British Columbia under Dr. Panos Nasiopoulos supervision.
- 8:15pm: Sean Arden from Emily Carr will present on Adventures in Stereo. Custom Camera Support for 3D Capture. This presentation will cover the research and development of some of the custom camera equipment for stereo production achieved to date by the researchers and students in the Prototyping Media and Programming lab. A demonstration of some of the stereo video and creative collaborations will be included.
