Selected Projects / Metro Vancouver Transit Police: Sexual Offences on Transit

In collaboration with Metro Vancouver Transit Police, a team of Emily Carr design students considered new ways to engage and inform the public on issues of sexual safety within the Translink system and establish a dialogue in order to increase the number of reported incidents.  By boosting public awareness of the issue and by raising the number of reported offenses, Transit Police hope to increase transit safety and create a culture of trust.  Through co-creation activities, interviews with key personnel, and online surveys the student team provided recommendations for design, ways to communicate effectively with the assigned target groups, and recommendations around guiding design principles that could inform future communication initiatives for Translink.
